Helping you settle back into your body

I have created my method of Yoga and Reiki. We start with yoga to ground you, empower you and get you out of your mind and into your body. All emotions, sensations and feelings are welcome. It doesn't matter how the poses look, but how they feel and what movement that brings about internally within your energetic system, as well as your emotional and physical. Once you are in a more connected state, we move on to energy work. This portion of the treatment is relatively still, although I invite you to move or make noise if your body wants to. I am clearing, pulling, and releasing blocked stagnant energy and making way for a newer, vibrant state of being.

My mission is to create space for you and me to hold more love and light within our lives and allow the ripple effect of that to benefit our children, community and planet.

Having been a bodyworker for 12 years, I started Lemon & Ginger in 2017 when I leaned into the energetic side of bodywork. I have trained in Reiki, Yoga, reflexology, Swedish body massage, myofascial release and sports massage. I am currently in the third year of my integrated master's degree to become a McTimoney Chiropractor.  Alongside Lemon & Ginger, I have a devoted self-practice, I am raising a beautiful 4-year-old, and we can most often be found in the fields with our dog Lily.

My passion for this work lies in seeing the beauty in real, authentic human connection. I want to look after you with full attention and respect as we work together to listen to your body's needs and rhythms and support you on your unfolding journey of becoming more you.

Nervous system work

Have you ever wondered why your tension returns a week after your massage? Or why, despite your weekly yoga classes, mindfulness apps and hours of talking therapy, you still find yourself dropping into stress patterns you've held for years? You're still triggered by the same people or situations even though you have done so much of "the work". Chronic pain and symptoms persist, and you feel inflamed, burnt out and just not yourself. You want more for yourself, but how much harder can you try? You're jumping from one quick fix to the next in the hope that one day, something will stick.  Welcome, your nervous system. The brain and body connection. That, along with your hormones, controls everything. Consciously and subconsciously, it holds emotion, trauma, love, fear. EVERYTHING.  Yes, every time you have repressed an emotion, a cry, a fear, a frustration we may appear polite in society but we rob our bodies of the chance to complete the cycle of that emotional response. Rendering it held in your body. Of course sometimes we have no choice, but sometimes we do. Do this for a week and you'd feel pretty pent up, yet we're doing it for months and years at a time.  Your body is always on your side and working every moment of every day for you. Your body is not the enemy, though to many it can feel like that's the case. So you decide it's time for change, you simply cannot live this way anymore. Yet the exercise spikes your stress response, the healthy food doesn't seem to make much difference to your inflammation and the meditation makes you want to scream. This is where working with your body to release emotion and built-up energy can change everything. Here we don't need to talk about and continue to relive the experience in our mind. We don't need to unpick everything that's ever happened to us to work it all out. Instead, through movement, energy work and bodywork we embody the emotion or energy, we let the body whisper, speak or roar. We provide safety and space for it to be felt and then we let it move, unravel and release.  The first time many experience this it can feel huge. A big satisfying cathartic release. In human nature we tend to get to the point of popping, seek the release, life feels more manageable and we repeat again and again.  Any way you choose to live is fine, but what I'm talking about is walking through the door of connection and grabbing a new way of living with both hands. It's a regular practice of embodiment, release and connection. again and again and again.  Healing happens in layers. Messy, imperfect and emotional layers. It takes time and it's not linear. Healing also isn't about being happy or "regulated" all the time. It's about having more capacity, more resilience and more reactivity. So yes, face that stressful situation head-on. But have a system that can come back into the parasympathetic once it's done. Yes, engage in injustice and stand up for what's right, but be able to also experience joy and softness without guilt. And yes.. have so much more of a capacity to love, because the love you cultivate for yourself becomes deeper and more sure.

Reconnecting with the body involves several phases.

Phase 1 A huge weight has lifted, and the initial relief feels palpable. Releasing energetically can feel like vibration, temperature changes, vivid dreams, emotional reactions, physical sensations, and a new lease of life. Though the releases don't always feel good and you may get headaches, body aches or disturbed sleep as your body settles back into equilibrium after an energy session, and this can take a few days. This is one-five treatments.

Phase 2 Life happens, and you feel knocked off your perch. You thought you'd finally found the answer, but why didn't it last? Well.. it was never meant to. Your energy changes constantly and is affected by everything and everyone in your environment. By continuing energy work, we are travelling deeper into the body and getting to know where the root of your fears, triggers and behaviours stem. So when life inevitably happens, you can come to it from a space of love and with more capacity and space within you to hold it all. Sometimes we are processing it mentally, but you don't always need to with body work. You can let your body feel and release without the need to overanalyse everything. Typically, five-fifteen treatments.

Phase 3 Empowering you. The greatest healing doesn't happen in a treatment. It happens every day, silently in life, when you choose love over fear. In phase three, I encourage you to create your own practice, either daily or multiple times a week, to ground, centre and process your energy. Allowing space for it to be felt and to move through you instead of getting stuck and finding a home in your body. I recommend movement and meditation and have a library of videos I am working on, which will be available in the Summer of 2025. In the meantime, I have some free yoga videos on this website for you to try. Start practising on your own, and consider treatments if you want them.

Phase 4 Community. With more capacity for life now, we've released all that doesn't serve us and we have space for more. More love, joy, connection and play. The point of this work isn't to turn you into a yogic hermit who hides from the world, but instead someone who is more centred, grounded and protected in their energy so we can live more. This looks like a regular practise where you continue to meet different layers of your wonderful self. You may want occasional treatments to support you or you may not feel it's necessary.

For as long as it feels good and right for you.
